Mampong honours the founding father of Ghana’s cocoa industry, Tetteh Quarshie who returned from Fernando Po (modern day Bioko Island) with cocoa in 1876 and established his farm in Akwapim Mampong.  It also acknowledges the Ashanti Region where much of our cocoa is grown.  It is wrapped in the earthy golden plumage of the Senegal Coucal.
